Air Quality Testing

Most people are aware that indoor air quality is a major issue in many homes. Many think that we are safe from these harmful toxins and air pollution in our homes, this is actually not the case. Indoor air pollution is one of the top five environmental health risks and comes from a combination of outdoor pollutants that get in through building ventilation. Particles and matters that gets trapped in the airways, as well as all the chemical products we use in our homes contain " volatile organic compounds".(VOCs) which are " Group of hundreds of molecules ". VOCs in the atmosphere can come from many different sources, both man-made and natural. Chemicals in everyday and household products like cleaning agents, printer ink and fragrance, are now a key contributor to city air pollution, competing against vehicle emissions.

These pollutants can trigger a lot of health issues, particularly amongst children, the elderly, as well as those with lung disease or asthma besides allergy-like symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, headaches, eye and throat irritation. The continuous accumulation of pollutants in the body can lead to serious long term health problems like respiratory disease and cancer.

In the last 30 years, the number of people with asthma has gone up by almost 60%.

Air duct filter cleaning

There are so many air quality-related products on the market; some are good, others are bad. For consumers like us, it can sometimes be difficult to find out which product is good and worth buying and which one is bad and should not be bought. Below are lists of products that Clean Air Canada recommends and assists the customers.

  • Furnace and Duct Cleaning Service: It is very important to have your furnace and duct system cleaned regularly to improve the indoor air quality in your home. Our team will help you to achieve it.
  • Dryer Vent Cleaning Service: Dryer vent cleaning consists of clearing the lint and dust blocking the vent from the dryer to the outside vent as it can deteriorate the quality of airflow in the house. Clean air provides professional dryer vent cleaning for residential and business properties in Vancouver.
  • Electrostatic or washable filters: Electrostatic air filters pull allergens out of the air through the use of static electricity. They do this by charging the particles in the air that are harmful if breathed in, including pollen, dust mites, mold, large dust particles, odor, etc. These charged particles become magnetically attracted to the metal in the air filters, sticking to the air filters instead of staying in the air and hence the air that comes out of the other side is cleaner and more pure to breathe. Electrostatic air filters are considered washable because they use static electricity generated when air flows through the small crevices of the metal furnace filters. Particles are then attracted to the metal and are trapped on the filter until it is washed out with water. Replace your disposable air filter with a washable electrostatic filter. It traps more airborne dust and allergens, has a durable metal frame and comes with a lifetime warranty. It is permanent and washable, so just hose off and reinstall with a self-charging electrostatic filter media that does not require electricity. Although it is expensive compared to other air filters, it removes the same quantity of allergens and pollutants from the air without compromising the efficiency of the system. They are mostly used in hospitals and offices.
  • Regular Air Filters: Air filters protect HVAC systems and perform double-duty by collecting some loose dirt from the air. Air Filters can be found in duct system slots, return grilles of central air conditioners, furnaces, and heat pumps. Removing a clogged filter relieves pressure on the system, however, the system can’t perform well without one. Successful filters have a short lifespan as it catches dirt, and must be cleaned or replaced at least once every three months as it cuts a home’s air quality and reduces HVAC system airflow. It’s critical to inspect and replace filters before seasons of heavy use like summer and winter. There are several different types of air filters and their levels of efficiency. Filters are either flat or pleated; pleated filters offer an extra surface area to hold dirt, making them more efficient. It is important that before you shop for a filter you know the size printed on the side of your current filter. If you get a filter that’s too small, dirt will get around the barrier and pollute your system.
  • Chimney Cleaning: Chimneys and fireplaces require regular inspections and cleaning to ensure the safe, healthy operation and to avoid potential risks such as chimney fires or carbon monoxide poisoning. We provide chimney cleaning services and inspection to ensure your chimney is safe, and that there are no issues or damage.
